The Spring Equinox is the moment when day and night are nearly equal in length, marking the transition into longer, brighter days as the sun crosses the celestial equator. In many traditions, it symbolizes balance, renewal, and new beginnings — a natural reset point.

Sun Salutation is a traditional, flowing asana sequence that honors the sun, the source of life and energy. It is both physically energizing and meditative, synchronizing breath, body, and focus.

The number 108 is considered sacred in yoga and many other traditions, in ancient yogic texts and spiritual practices. There are said to be 108 energy lines (Nadis) converging at the heart chakra, 108 beads are used in mala necklaces to guide meditation, and in astronomy, the distance between Earth and the Sun is 108 times the Sun’s diameter – a cosmic connection we embody through movement.

108 Sun Salutations - An Ode to the Sun

Putting together the balance and transition of Spring Equinox, completion and intention-setting of 108 repetitions and honoring the sun and awakening energy with Sun Salutations, it becomes a ritual of letting go of the old season and resetting physically and mentally - aligning with nature’s cycles.

It’s less about strict tradition and more about intentional practice. The repetition challenges you physically, but more importantly, it builds focus, resilience, and reflection.

Ps. Whether you complete all 108 rounds of Sun Salutations or honor your body with what feels right, the power of intention is what matters most. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or just beginning your journey, this event is a powerful opportunity to reconnect with yourself and the world around you. Come with an open heart, leave feeling lighter, stronger, and more aligned with the season of new beginnings.
