Yin

Yin Yoga class to surrender and release tension and restore space in the deeper tissues of the body

16 euros
Korkeavuorenkatu 17, 00130 Helsinki

Service Description

Yin Yoga is a static, even passive, form of practice. In practical terms, this means that poses are held for long periods of time – from three minutes up to over ten minutes. On a physical level, Yin Yoga aims to release tension and restore space in the deeper tissues of the body – targeting not the muscles, but the fascia (connective tissues), and even the joints and bones. To access these deeper layers of our being, slowing down the pace is essential. Patience, and a gentle and compassionate attitude toward the practice, are necessary. And while the practice is very simple in essence, it can feel quite challenging at first. Yin Yoga is restorative – a practice that supports recovery and rest. On the level of the nervous system, the aim is typically to activate the parasympathetic nervous system – the “rest and digest” state of the body. Reaching this state requires surrender – letting go of doing and achieving. Only when we release the constant pursuit of goals can we begin to access the experience of simply being.
